I wrote 'Ajo' around 2017, in Arizona. It didn't find a home at the time. It has nothing to do with garlic but everything to do with copper.
This isn’t related to any of my other releases, it's just nice to have it available. I'll leave it here for the weekend and, at some point, I'll replace it with another orphan.
released October 8, 2021

Was into Mogwai from the beginning with the pivotal Ten Rapid and 4 Satin, but the last Mogwai LP I bought was Mr Beast in 2006, so plenty new to me here, and lots of catching up to do! On 2018 Live, the last 4 tracks are where I'm at, I just love all of that feedback and distortion. From my collection of their first decade, the epic 20 minute My Father My King is my all time favourite - I have no idea if their releases after 2006 have yielded anything comparable... only one way to find out!... This album will grow on you. Listen in headphones or earbuds. It will blow your mind. Steve has so many amazing textures and dimensions on this release. It's hard to pick a favorite track. Probably in his top 5, if there is such a thing. 53Guitarman
As a Balkanite Aussie, this is made for me! I just love this so much. It got me on a Rebetiko binge (also listening to Dimitris Mystakidis and Vinicio Capossela). Sitting here in (Brendan's) Melbourne and my heart is back in the Mediterranean. Σέρβος Αυστραλός
If ever there were a voice I'd love to work with, it's yours Elizabeth. I've been a big fan of your work over the years. So glad to have caught "underwater" on BBC 6 music this morning. Thank you for continuing to make your jawdropping music. So happy to know this EP exists, and looking forward to getting acquainted with every note, beat, sound, nuance. Chris Carbinax
